If you too are fighting your inner Scrooge and want to give gifts with meaning, then I’ve got a couple of ideas.
As last year, I’ve got e-vouchers for No Name Kitchen. Stef and I are returning to Bosnia in January. The situation for people there remains extremely difficult. The cold weather, violent authorities and struggling local community mean that we can contribute again to easing some of the hardship.
Last year, we were able to arrive with loads of donations of money, clothes and medical supplies. Thank you! We’d love to do so again. Full details and how to buy the vouchers - from a hot meal, to an entire outfit - are here.
It's been great to keep in touch with people that we met there. We've got friends originally from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Iraq who are now settling into life in Western European countries. Struggles still await them, the asylum process, learning a new language, studying or finding a job. But at least they're not in mortal peril as they frequently were in Bosnia.
So if you’d rather give a physical gift and want to inform your friends about the plight of people in Bosnia as well as elsewhere, why not give them this anthology. I wrote two of the stories that are in there. You can buy it directly from the publisher here, and profits are going to a refugee charity.
Do you want a signed copy?! Contact me here and we can sort that out.
Have you read the anthology already? What do you think? I need to write a squeal to Aziz and Wahid actually...!
