- To raise money for charity. This year I’m running for Crisis - a homeless charity based in London. Running events are a great way to raise awareness of a charity cause as you ask friends and family to sponsor you. Sponsor me here!
- Goal setting. I’m so much more motivated when I’m following a training plan with a date of an event. It’s easy to think ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’, but as 14th October draws closer I’m committed to my training plan.
- Speed. I always run faster at events with other people. It’s the atmosphere, the adrenaline and my competitive streak!
- Goodie bag. I love a medal. And you often get a new tshirt, headband, protein balls, etc
- For health. On a more general and serious note, I’m running this event in memory of my Dad who died in July. He inspired me and my siblings to run and was fit and active until being diagnosed with cancer. If he hadn’t been so fit then I wouldn’t have seen him before he died. I want to be fit and healthy so I can be there for those around me and experience all the that life has to offer. If you’d like help with starting your fitness journey then get in touch. I’ve completed quite a few running events over the last four years. My first was the Royal Parks Half in 2014 which is where I’ll be returning to this year. After a break from events I’ve been thinking about my motivation for entering events, especially when one of the great things about running is that you can do it anywhere. So here’s what I came up with.
